With a commendable rating of 4.7, it has garnered praise from visitors who appreciate the personal touches and the quality experience it provides.

From the moment guests arrive, they are welcomed by friendly and professional staff, creating a warm atmosphere that sets the tone for their stay. The Lion Hotel excels in its culinary offerings, serving food that is both hearty and refined. Visitors consistently commend the quality of the dishes, ranging from well-cooked Sunday lunches with perfectly seasoned vegetables to expertly prepared steaks and seared tuna. Though a rare critique mentions minor imperfections, such as slightly soggy batter or a tougher cut of lamb, the overall sentiment reflects excellence and a willingness to accommodate guests’ preferences, which speaks to a commitment to quality and care.

What sets The Lion Hotel apart is its subtle balance between tradition and modern boutique style: the interesting, tasteful decor invites guests to enjoy a sophisticated yet welcoming ambiance. Good food. Fish could had done with a few more minutes as batter was slightly soggy tasting, very nice homemade chips. Good prices for beer. Friendly staff. Interesting decor. Would return if in area again. And would recommend :)

Sunday lunch was good. Vegetables were well cooked, tasty and well seasoned. Regrettably roast lamb main was tough and gristly, two elements of the dessert were missing but added on request; worth the wait. Staff friendly and helpful. Going for a second visit.

Pub accommodation with a difference! Each room has a theme. We stayed in the blue room, lovely and quiet overlooking the churchyard. Nice and comfy, in a pretty village. Good beer, the evening meal we had was top class. Breakfast in the morning was lovely too. The management and staff were very helpful, friendly and supportive. Highly recommended.

Stayed one night but would have been happy staying longer. The hotel/pub and rooms are immaculate and really enjoyed the decor and colours. Food was yummy at dinner and an even better breakfast. Only bad side was our room was facing the main road and our room was directly above a speaker for the restaurant but I think this was turned off at 10 which was good. (However I slept really well! The bed and pillows were perfect) Really nice to have extra tea/coffee supplies down the hall. And we appreciated a face flannel provided. Staff were lovely too. Highly recommended and would stay again.

Absolutely fabulous! Beautiful rooms. The most comfy bed I have slept in for a long time. Gorgeous decor throughout. A real gem of a genuinely boutique hotel. We'll worth going out of your way for a visit.
